Yes, your marital status will play a key role in how you file your taxes.  In short, it's all about what your status was on December 31st of 2015.  If on that day you were divorced, single or legally-separated, your tax filing status will be Single.  For married couples, you have the option of filing Jointly, or by selecting the option for Married Filing Separately.
